Install MythTV Frontend
Installing software is for a standalone frontend is now very straightforward. A metapackage is provided that will properly setup a window manager, automatic login, and install the frontend. Install the metapackage:
# sudo apt-get install ubuntu-mythtv-frontend
Starting the frontend
When the packages are installed, all that you need to do is start ~+`gdm`+~:
# sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
The frontend will automatically login and you will be presented with the MythTV logo. This logo appears whenever the frontend is busy in the background, so be patient, it's busy. Depending on the speed of your machine, it may take some time for the configuration screens to appear. When prompted, select your Language.
