Ubuntu is distributed over the Internet as CD image files, called ISOs. To install Ubuntu, you first need to burn its ISO file onto a CD. You need a working CD/DVD burner for this. This page explains how you can do it using Windows, Mac OS X, Ubuntu and Kubuntu. If the CD writing fails, try writing at a slower burn speed.
There are also other methods of GettingUbuntu.

In Windows 95 / 98 / ME / 2000 / XP / Server 2003 / Vista
1. Verify the ISO file (highly recommended, but not required).

- Download and install Hashtab, a free hash verification program that installs a shell extension for you to verify file hashes easily.

- Right click on the ISO image file and select 'Properties'.

2. To burn the ISO image, download and install ImgBurn, a free image burning program.
刻录ISO镜像，下载并安装ImgBurn，一个免费的镜像刻录程序。
3. Insert a blank CD in the drive and select Do nothing or Cancel if an autorun dialog pops up.
插入一张空白光盘，如果有对话框弹出请选择“Do nothing（无操作）”或者“Cancel（撤销）”。
4. Right click on the ISO image you downloaded and select Burn with Imgburn.
右击您下载的ISO镜像文件并选择“Burn with Imgburn（使用Imgburn刻录）”。
5. Click the Write Disc button and wait for the CD to finish burning.

In Mac OS X
Note: To burn most ISOs, you can use Apple's Disk Utility (Disk Copy in older versions). 提示：为了刻录较多的ISO文件，你可以用苹果公司的磁盘工具(老版本中的磁盘复制)
- Launch Disk Utility (Applications → Utilities → Disk Utility)
- Drag the ISO to the sidebar of the Disk Utility main window.
- Select the ISO where you just dragged it, and choose (Menu → Image → Burn...)
- In Disk Utility, ensure that the Verify burn checkbox is ticked (you may need to click on the disclosure triangle to see the checkbox).
- Insert a blank CD → Burn.
- Check that verification (if available) was successful. If verification was not available, at least make sure that a sample of directories on the CD can be accessed by the finder.

In Ubuntu
- Verify the ISO file (highly recommended, but not required). Instructions on OpenOffice.org.
- Insert a blank CD into your burner. A "CD/DVD Creator" file browser will pop up. Close this browser as we will not be using it. (Edgy will say "Choose Disk Type", click 'Ignore")
- Find the downloaded ISO image in the file browser (available at Places → Home menu on top of the screen.) Right click on the ISO image file and choose Write to Disc and wait for burning to complete.

In Kubuntu
- Find the ISO image in the file browser (available at System Menu > Home Folder on bottom of the screen next to KMenu.)
- Right click on the ISO → Actions → Write CD Image with K3b...
- K3b will now automatically verify the md5sum, make sure these match.
- Place Blank CD in burner and click on start.

3、K3b会自动进行md5校验，确认是否一致。
4、插入空白光盘并点击开始。
