<<Include(Tag/NeedsExpansion)>> <<Include(Tag/StyleCleanup)>> Note: wallpaper-tray is beta software and may not work as expected. Note: In Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04), wallpaper-tray has been rewritten and is a panel applet. wallpaper-tray is a wallpaper utility that sits on the GNOME panel. It gives you a random wallpaper from a chosen directory at logon, on a timer, and allows you to select a new wallpaper at random from its menu. Install the wallpaper-tray package. See [InstallingSoftware]. Then on versions before 9.04 run the command:
wallpaper-tray
In Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04) and above:
Right click the gnome panel, select the "Add to panel..." option and select wallpaper-tray
in the dialog. A small icon of your current desktop will appear in the panel (right click to configure). And wallpaper-tray will also start automatically from then on.
To make wallpaper-tray run on login in older versions of Ubuntu, in Gnome:
- System: Preferences: Sessions
- In the Startup Programs tab click New
- Name: Wallpaper Tray
- Command: /usr/bin/wallpaper-tray
