What architectures are supported?

Ubuntu supports x86, the most common type, usually known as a PC, amd64, or 64-bit computers and powerPC, the old Apple hardware (newer hardware is Intel x86). Ubuntu also supports sparc, SUNs architecture on the server, although not on the desktop.
