Introduction
Bricscad is a CAD package developed by Bricsys and built using the IntelliCAD engine. It is designed for Windows, and is among the few commercially supported CAD packages which runs on Linux (an RPM file is available) using the WINE (software) emulation layer. Bricscad uses the Open Design Alliance DWG libraries to read and write the DWG file format made popular by the AutoCAD package. Bricscad implements the AutoLISP scripting language.
Installation
- Fetch the RPM file from the http://bricsys.com website (requires email address)
- Install alien to convert the RPM package to a DEB package. (See InstallingSoftware)
- Assuming the RPM file you downloaded is called Bricscad-6.0.0020-1.en_US.i386.rpm and is on the Desktop, you will need to type in the terminal:
sudo alien --scripts Desktop/Bricscad-6.0.0020-1.en_US.i386.rpm
- Double clicking on the newly created DEB package on the desktop will guide you through installing Bricscad.
- Once finished, you should have a new entry in the Office section of your main menu. When you run this, you will be asked for your authorization number which you should receive in an email from Bricsys.
